Kyoto Table by G. Frattini

 



During a visit to Japan in the early 70s, the italian designer Gianfranco Frattini and his friend the master woodworker Pierluigi Ghianda, had the idea of producing a table inspired by the local ateliers.

This piece, although direct product of the italian craftmanship and design of the second half of 20th century, is a clear reminescence, even from the name, of the asian architecture. 

This is an example of a perfectly integrated influence, where a visual inspiration is able not only to merely produce a copy, but to create a new design with its own identity.
