This is a photo I found of a modern children's chair designed by Charles and Ray Eames, in the 1950's I believe. I think it's an example of the throughline from ancient to modern furniture design as I recognized the classical Greek influence from the famous Klismos chair - the curved backrest. Granted the other defining features of the Klismos - the backrest curve, the curved legs - are muted in favor of straighter lines, one aspect of modernism.

I was struck by the "indiscret" type of chair I saw in the art nouveau section, but as I've read on the internet it belongs as well to the Napoleonic era of Second Empire style. I think it's funny that this style of couch was invented for a particular activity of gossiping - or talking about things indiscretely... I think there is some classical and medieval gothic influence here - I'm sure there's more than I'm recognizing - but on this indiscret in particular, I see acanthus leaves carved into the leg rails. I also recognize that the three seats of the couch are organized in a trefoil which is a common ornament in Gothic furniture.
